Are your commitments/investments in ISO 9001 and/or AS 9120 still meeting your needs?
Are you prepared to demonstrate your compliance with the new SAE AS 6081?
As Chairman of the United States National Committee for the IECQ Distributors Advisory Group, I am inviting you to become a member of the organization commissioned to develop the Conformity Assessment System that will be used by distributors and brokers worldwide to demonstrate their compliance to AS 6081. Unlike other industry groups such as IDEA, ERAI and CCAP-101 the USNC/IECQ DAG (DAG for short), was established in 1982 to provide internationally recognized conformity assessment programs without trade barriers.
Coming up in March, in Casa Grande Arizona, we are going to be meeting with the folks from ANSI/ANAB, senior technical folks who set company policies from Boeing, Honeywell, BAE and AVENT just to name a few….and we will be discussing the rules of procedures, and operating documents that will affect the way audits for brokers and distributors are conducted for AS6081. The USNC/IECQ is chaired by Lloyd Condra, Senior Technical Fellow from Boeing. Here is a link to the rest of the members which meet twice a year:
Additionally, the USNC/IECQ DAG meets with countries around the world, working on the same issues. http://www.iec.ch/dyn/www/f?p=103:5:0
The USNC/IECQ DAG leads the world in this effort against counterfeit components, and we are looking for your organization to join us as pioneers. You will literally receive NATIONAL and INTERNATIONAL publicity for your help in cleaning up our industry.
- Is access to thousands of certified OEMs, ODMs, OCMs, and Distributors and test labs worldwide a value to your organization?
- Do you know where to send suspect or counterfeit parts sitting in your inventory?
- Is your voice heard in the development of International Counterfeit Avoidance Standards and Conformity Assessment Regulations?
We have some membership rules, such as you can’t miss two consecutive annual meetings. You must adopt the best practices, as set forth by the group. That is AS6081 at this time. We offer plenty of support, in all areas of pre-assessment for the audit, or help implementing AS 6081 requirements into your QMS.
Our membership is $3500 a year, nothing more. As a DAG member, you automatically become a member of CAMA. (Counterfeit Avoidance Mark Alliance) This mark will become the “Golden Seal of Approval” when procuring from the open market. This mark is internationally recognized, like the Hazardous Substance Free Mark (RoHS CE) http://www.hsf.us/ which the same group worked on.
Also as a member of CAMA, you will be able to use the Repository Management System (RMS) which relieves brokers and distributors of warehousing, disposal and required reporting of fraudulent or counterfeit parts to GIDEP and other government agencies. Following a well-defined process the legal and financial management responsibilities are transferred to CAMA-RMS

If you are like me, this almost seems too good to be true.
- Ability to influence National and International Counterfeit Avoidance Rules and Standards
- Access to relevant industry subject matter experts
- Access to more than 70 certification body offices worldwide recognized by the IECQ and Accredited by IAF Member ABs.
- Outsourcing the Quarantine and Reporting of Suspect/Counterfeit Components
- No or reduced cost for training, consulting and other associated services
Having personally experienced many of these values over the past six months, I am confident that you too can benefit by becoming a member.
To help others better understand the overall value proposition and make an informed decision, I have arranged with Stan Salot Jr. president of the ECC Corporation and CAMA, LLC to meet with you on an individual and/or as a group. Stan has worked on similar issues in the area of Hazardous Substance Process Management for demonstrating RoHS compliance and the development of the HSF Mark Alliance. Stan is highly respected by industry leaders in China and throughout Asia Pacific. He regularly meets with and works with government and industry officials throughout Asia, the EU and the America’s. He can be a great help in understanding the big picture as he is deeply involved with helping brokers and distributors have a voice at the national and international level. His own career includes having worked for an independent distributor/broker.
